Pastor Sarah

I felt God was wanting me to be a minister when I was quite young.  First, after going on a mission trip with my youth group, I realized that religion wasn't just talk.  God was at work in the world and changing the lives of people all around the world.  Thinking that I would become a missionary nurse, I became a nurses aid on the night shift at Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer, IA.
About 2 am on an otherwise quiet night, I noticed that one of our residents (who had sever dementia and called out often in the night)  was sick and called the nurse.  The patient was experiencing congestive heart failure and without treatment she would die.  The nurse left to call the family and doctors, the other aid when on to make rounds and I was left at her side to comfort her.  At 16 I had no idea what to do but picked up a Gideon's Bible and began to read to her.  A peace and calm came over this woman's face and I knew that God was with us in that room and loved this woman.  I knew that this was what I was made to do - comfort the hurting spiritually.
My passion in life is in helping the Church I am sent to serve be the best it can be by empowering the laity,
encouraging creativity in service to God, and leading in worship and in visioning the path God wants us to journey together.
